Authentic materials are those materials not produced for class i.e. ones that already existed somewhere, and non-authentic materials are those produced specifically for use in the classroom. With any material, it is important to know what language point is being used or tested, how the material will be used, and how you'll show the class how to use it. Lesson plans should always include date, time, level, room, expected number of students, context of a lesson, objectives, anticipated problems for students and teachers (with solutions), and outline of procedures.
