In this unit, I learned how we teach new grammar, vocabulary and language functions with the help of ESA methods. Grammar, vocabulary and language functions can not be seen in an isolated manner so we need to make sure that we introduce our students new concepts of the language in a balanced manner. Grammar or vocabulary lessons are generally taught with straight arrow approach while boomerang and patchwork methods are used for teaching language functions. Using flashcards or illustrations or rather real objects help students to learn new words, their meanings easily e.g. teaching little learners words like 'big' and 'small', 'hard' and 'soft'. While teaching grammar structures, we will teach student the meaning, usage, forms and patterns of the language, and patchwork or boomerang lesson plan would work better for teaching grammar and language functions, as these methods give the teacher more flexibility to incorporate multiple stages of activate and study phases depending upon the feedback they get from the students.
