I found this unit extremely helpful. I feel much better prepared to stand in front of a class, knowing what to do in various situation. In this lesson, I learned that prevention and optimal preparation as well as my role as a model/tutor is key for a successful classroom management. I mustn’t forget at all times that my behaviour and actions have direct impact on the classroom. Not only in terms of input quality, but also in terms of discipline and student behaviour. In addition to providing new language input, I understand that I have model role, especially for younger students. My mood and behaviour impact that of learners in my class. Therefore, full consciousness of my behaviour and my actions are key to ensure the lessons runs smoothly and I am able to face any situation with a cool temper and acting right.
So many aspects have an impact on a successful lesson: the seating arrangement, the furniture and how it is used, the media available to me. How I use my voice, body language and eyes as well as my position. I find it simply fascinating.
