In this unit vocabulary, grammar and language function are presented as components of teaching a new language. Regardless of which component and technique used to teach, students need to understand the meaning of the vocabulary or the structure, they need to know how it is constructed and how it is used, they must be exposed to the language as much as possible and by the end of the lesson they must be able to produce by the means of practice.
A teacher must consider various factors for teaching each component. While teaching a new vocabulary a teacher must analyze whether it is appropriate or not, and based on students level is it teachable or not.
Teaching grammar however is more reliable to the level of students and it is mostly guided by course syllabus, but in any case, the meaning of the new structure, its usage, the way it is written and pronounced should be well understood by students.
As for teaching a language function, the emphasize is on activating the language and produce successfully. the kind of language function and its appropriacy are also important.
