This unit was concerned with class management. How to organise sitting arrangements and group activities. The teachers physical position and voice should be appropriate the content of the lesson, depending on how involved the teacher is with a certain activity. Instructions and explaination should be kept simple.
Several points of this unit already came up in previous ones, like the use of the board. Though, I must say I personally still disagree with the suggestion of writing on the board while the students are still engaged in a different activity. As a student I have always found that very distracting and so did at least half of the class.
The unit also talked about maintaining discipline and establishing rapport toward and between the students. One of the most important factors, in my opinion is to treat the students as you would like to be treated. Be polite, show enthusiasm and stick to the rules yourself. Depending on class size and age of the students stricter discipline may be needed, but as pointed out, losing ones temper and yelling at the students would not be helpful.
