Unit 6 focused on past tense in its various forms, also usage and structure of the past tense. I found this unit to be a very comprehensive reintroduction to the topic. While I was previously aware of the subcategories and uses of past tense, I learnt a lot of teaching techniques and activities to engage students while allowing them to practice using past tense. I also learnt that usage and sentence structure are critical to correctly identifying the tense. For example, the past simple tense is used to express a complete action in the past while the past continuous is use to express that an action was in progress at a certain time in the past. I believe that by focusing on the clear differences in usage students will be less daunted by any task involving identifying past tense.
