Unit 9 focused on the purpose and components of an effective lesson plan. While the author of the chapter was clear that the presented structure is fluid and just one example, I appreciated the method in which this unit was instructed. As a current classroom teacher, I use a lesson plan/procedure plan for each of my class meetings. While I have used my current plan for the last four semesters, I learned some valuable additions to planning in this chapter. I especially like the "Teacher Aim" section presented in the video section. As a professional who is interested in growth in my craft, I need to be more intentional in writing out my hopes for improvement with each lesson plan. Writing down the aims creates a chance for evaluation after the lesson is complete. This unit taught me that the lesson plan is not completed after the students leave the classroom. I must evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson as well.
