I learnt the five typical patterns of conditionals that are taught when teaching conditionals. Zero : if/when+ present tense, present tense. First conditional: if+present simple, 'will' (modal verb can be replaced by may, might, can,should, must) Second Conditional: if+ past simple,would/could/might+ base form verb. third conditional: if+ past perfect, would/could/might+past participle. Mixed conditional: If+ past perfect, would+ base form verb. And their usages. And the many teaching ideas that can often be inter changed throughout the conditionals that your teaching. I have learnt that reporting speech is reporting direct speech, letting people know what has been said. I have learnt the concept of 'Backshifting' and how we shift back the tense and have learnt the full list list of tense changes. And even though sometimes we can make changes to these, they are never incorrect and we should teach students to always use these until they have learnt the exceptions. I have learnt the list of time changes. And how when we are reporting questions we are changing the question to a statement, and the rules relating to demands and imperatives.
