In this unit, productive skills were the key topic. These topics include writing and speaking. It is important to note that the reason why we speak to one another is for a need or desire. The next focus is on accuracy and fluency, the key difference being, accuracy used for the correct usage of a language and fluency is the ability to speak it without thinking too much. In the study phase, accuracy is what should be focused on in order for the students to have the correct pronunciation. In the activate stage fluency becomes more important since the students must learn how to use the language when they speak. There are several ways teachers can go about when doing a speaking activity, such as controlled, guided or creative ones. I learned that each focuses on a specific target. For instance, controlled activities are accuracy based and thus the language will be controlled by the teacher. Meanwhile, creative communication will be fluency activities and the output will usually be from the students.
