I learnt Present tense and its four types; Present Simple, Present Continuous (Progressive), Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous. I learnt about the affirmative, negative and questions forms of these tenses. For example, simple present tense is used to state habitual or routine actions, commentaries, newspaper headlines, stating historical sequences, permanent situations or facts etc. While learning about present perfect and present perfect continuous tenses, I also learnt about the usage of since and for and irregular past participles which have to be only memorized. I learnt what kind of common problems the students make with different forms of present tense and as an ESL teacher how we can make them understand and practice these tenses with the help of various activities like questionnaires, gap-filling, mime, Pictionary, job interview to name just a few.
