Unit 14 focuses on the proper use of textbooks and teaching materials when teaching a class. Materials are generally split between authentic materials which are materials drawn from real world sources and created materials which are materials prepared specifically for practicing language. Created materials are good for introductory lessons as well as focusing on specific vocab while authentic materials provide exposure to the language as students are likely to encounter it in the real world. Course books are often use to guide a course and provide materials, however a teacher should be sure to adapt the course books materials to their own classes' needs.
