Unit 18 covers the grammar of modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. Modals are a type of auxiliary verb which modifies the main verb in aspects such as obligation, probability, permission, and ability. Passive voice rearranges the sentence such that the object of the main verb moves to the front of the sentence and is then acted upon by the subject of the sentence. This is useful in emphasizing the object of an action rather than the subject. Relative clauses are dependent clauses which modify a noun. They generally begin with 'that' or a question word such as 'who'.
