Unit 20 offered many straightforward solutions for some problem areas ELL teacher may encounter. As mentioned in earlier overviews, I found the concrete activity examples the most beneficial. By listing out a series of warmers and opening class activities, I feel that I am better prepared for entering my first ELL classroom. While I have classroom experience, I learned that the ELL classroom centers on engaging the student and is skill-based. My past experience leans towards a more teacher-centered lecture format. Therefore, a change in approach is necessary. I want my students to use the language, not simply hear my speaking it.
