This unit encompassed Planning Lessons. It discussed functions of lesson plans, the basic principles of lesson plans, and being organized. It then gave a more detailed analysis on what the lesson plan should include. Then, we were shown an example of a lesson plan that revolved around 'can and can't' when talking about animals. Each phase was broken down into sub-phases. We were then given an example of an evaluation form for monitoring our lessons. Then also there was a short bit on planning a sequence of lessons and the important things to keep in mind. The tasks were based around task sheets given to us. I am still quite a bit confused about what we can and cannot use in the engage vs. the activate stages. The study phase is more concrete and uses board work and worksheets mostly to isolate the teaching point. However, the order of sub-phases, even here, is not clear to me yet. I can envision situations where the study phases would not necessarily need to be in the order listed above. We are told to be flexible and so I will keep that in mind. Thank you.
