In this particular unit, I have learned about the characteristics of a good teacher and learner. The unit furthermore describes the various levels of English proficiency and the characteristics of different age groups. Most of all, I learned that it is important to adapt the role of the teacher to the learners’ age group, their level of proficiency as well as the type of activity and the content to be taught. A teacher must be aware of these traits at all times, as he can and most probably will slip into various roles throughout a teaching period. The unit underlines that developing a sense for knowing which role to take at which moment, is key for a fruitful learning session.
