This unit explores the use of vocabulary, grammar and functions in the teaching of ESL. The unit gave examples of how to select the appropriate vocabulary for the level of ESL you teach, and explored different techniques that can be applied to each class.
Further to this it explains the technique required when introducing grammatical structure and language functions to your lesson. This can be applied by using the ESA (Engage Study Activate) approach as previously covered in unit three.
My main takeaway from this unit is the knowledge that grammar is the foundation of a language and must be thoroughly understood before a student can move on to vocabulary and functions.
