Hickory Corners, Michigan TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit was on managing classes. It was a broad survey. It included such elements as: eye contact, gesturing, grouping; attention-giving; instruction-giving; voice; seating arrangements; board work; classroom arrangement; using student names; teacher talk time and student talk time; establishing rapport [teacher to student and student to student]; and discipline. I learned quite a bit from this material except, again, some of the minutiae became a bit confusing. Overall, well presented and organized. However, the test above is a bit too precious for my likes: turns of logic vs. management relevancy . . . situations where dual responses are actually possible due to the overlapping nature of elements in the subsections to each chapter subset!! Sometimes, I would actually just prefer to write out full answers to questions . . the old fashioned way . . . rather than have to wrestle with minutiae to a degree that becomes self-sabotaging . . . and not self-bolstering. Intuitive answers are good and great . . . but the other stuff? The stuff that is not so intuitive . . . should be explained a little better??? It could just be that my headache is making it hard to think and not anything other than that!! The good news: I learned some new things. Back in the day when I taught Spanish, students were not supposed to correct other students' work. I am glad to see that is no longer the policy. Thank you.
