This unit explains that in the teaching of ESL we use 12 different tenses as opposed to the teaching of other languages that will only use one to three. This unit focuses on and explores the present tense and its four aspects. These are: present simple, present continuous, present perfect and perfect continuous.
We explore examples of the proper use of tense and grammar point, giving an understanding of when they need to be applied. We also look at the typical student errors that you will encounter and activate stage teaching ideas that can be applied to the lesson plan.
My main takeaway from this unit is the knowledge and comprehension of the use of tense in teaching ESL. I now feel I have the ability to implement this style of teaching in my ESL classes.
