Unit 15 focuses on different methods of evaluation for students. Though teachers are always evaluating students based on class performance, more formal evaluation is usually conducted through testing. Placement and diagnostic tests are used to determine the fluency level of the student so that they may be placed into a class of the appropriate level. Progress tests are used periodically in order to check the students' progress regarding course material and necessary language skills. Practice tests are used to prepare students for other standardized tests the student may have to take. Unit 15 finishes up with an overview of some of the ESL certifications and tests used as international standards.
