As a native English speaker, and one who grew up in a household where proper grammar was used, I readily use correct grammar myself. The struggle in teaching then, is understanding the why behind the way I say things, and then being able to explain it to others. There are so many parts of speech that come naturally, and I don't even think about, but when I'm teaching English (or in this case studying to teach) I find myself analyzing words, sentences, and grammar a lot more.
