This has been a complex and demanding unit: the science behind phonology and linguistics of this nature is far from simple and one wonders whether such technical information really aids a student of English or indeed acts as a deterrent from learning. Although technically interesting, the various aspects of the vocal anatomy is not easy to grasp and as one does not thing of these aspects of speech production when talking naturally, it is almost as if learning a completely new science, even for the most competent and fluent of English speakers.
