Until 11 focuses on the receptive skills reading and listening. It covers different techniques such as predictive skills and deduction from context. I learnt about pre-teaching which will be helpful in getting students to understand the source material before they are presented with it. The unit covered the importance of choosing material that the majority of student will be familiar and interested in. Both the unit example and the test example used pop culture references for this, as most people will be familiar with tom cruise and Elvis. The ESA lesson plan and task materials were helpful at seeing how to apply reading and listening skills within a lesson.
