This Unit follows on the previous unit about receptive skills (reading and listening). In this unit we focus on the productive skills (Speaking and writing). We looked at the reasons for speaking and writing in order for the teacher to motivate the students to actively participate in the speaking and writing activities. When we plan to teach these skills it is important to distinguish between fluency and accuracy as this will effect the content, approach and choice of activities. The Unit provides teachers with many speaking and writing activities which are categorized according to the desired outcomes. The unit also provides practical examples on ESA straight arrow lessons focused on productive skills and incorporating activities mentioned in the lesson.
