Unit seven covered teaching new language, with techniques for teaching the ESA method in three different areas; vocabulary, structure and function. Different ESA structures can be used for teaching different new language areas for example. A straight-arrow ESA structured lesson can be good for teaching vocabulary to lower level students, as it takes them through each step in the lesson in the most straightforward fashion, or using a boomerang structured lesson helps to increase student talk time, this is helpful when teaching language function. When teaching new language you should try to apply the most effective ESA method for each lesson, keeping in mind the four main things students need to learn a new language; been exposed to it, its construction, understand its meaning and practising and producing it.
