This unit was an introduction to and overview of the present tense. My main takeaway from this lesson is that there are 4 different types of present tense. the present simple, the present perfect, the present continuous, and the present perfect continuous. In my mind, I've come up with some simple rules to remember these four categories (though there are exceptions): The present simple is the base form of the verb, for actions that are happening now. The present perfect uses has/have, and relates something from the past to something that is happening now. The present continuous describes something that is happening now, and will likely continue to happen, by using am/are, and then the -ing form of the verb. The present perfect continuous is the hardest of the four, but uses has been/have been along with the -ing form of the verb to relate the past and/or future to the current action.
