Unit 7: Teaching New Language focused on the basics of instructing vocabulary, grammar, and language functions in an ELL classroom. While the chapter was short in length, the information will be critical when I begin instructing this student population. I found the sample lesson plans the most critical. I appreciate the practical nature of offering lessons to illustrate how to instruct the three areas covered. By referring back to the ESA patterns in Unit 3, I was offered concrete examples of how these lessons would be carried out in a classroom setting. While I am interested in the philosophy behind the topics, I believe the classroom-ready lessons will be much utilized.
