This unit illustrates the positives and negatives of course books and when it is appropriate to use them. They do provide a good balance of grammar, vocabulary, and skills work which can be graded to the level of the students. However, it is typically a general syllabus which might not fit the needs of all the students in your classroom. Therefore, it is best to often accompany a course book with a teacher's own creative material. Creative material would be more student-based and would be accompanied with the aspect of fun to get all your students involved. It is best if the teacher created their own ideas and activities instead of getting all their inspiration from a boring text book.
