This is a unit that deals basically with the teaching of a new language. It stresses the student's need to be exposed to the new language. I have learned too that, in teaching the vocabulary, the teacher will have to let the students know the following about the vocabulary items:
the meaning
the usage; that is how and when it is appropriate to use
how it is written or spelled and pronounced and so on.
Knowing the word grammar and the interaction of words with other words is also very important in teaching a new language. I have also learned that understanding how the grammar is constructed is very important.
lastly, this unit gives another opportunity to review the techniques for vocabulary learning, the use of the ESA straight arrow as well as boomerang approaches. I have particularly leaned the different activities done within the Engage, the Study, the Activate phases which the test was largely based on. It is quite an enriching unit.
