I found this Unit extremely helpful and in my perspective should be thoroughly known to teachers to maximise learning effectiveness with students. Presented methods move within the nature- nurture span. Some methods, such as the classical method have proven effective for hundreds of years but seem quite out of date for today’s classroom dynamics. With the use of innovative methods, the role and involvement of the teacher has developed from being a full-frontal authoritarian style to a more horizontal hierarchy and dynamic interaction within the classroom. The ESA method, comprising advantages of all other methods enables students to actively participate in almost all stages of the learning process. Thus, drastically increasing learning efficiency and learner’s motivation. Languages shall be spoken, not solely memorised. The ESA techniques goes along this school of thoughts. Furthermore, it can be adapted to any language level or learners age/experience. However, teachers must ensure lessons do not become predictable and stay diversified.
