During their teaching journey, teachers may come across various people, at different levels with different
needs. In this unit, some of different groups of students and their needs are explained. How to approach,
what materials to cover and some do's and don'ts are given as well.
As obvious as it is, teaching adults, teenagers and kids are different and a teacher should apply different methods to teach any of them. Various differences also exist between those aiming to learn English generally or for a specific reason. The latter requires more tailored content and lesson plan.
Number of students in a class is also a factor of difference as 1-1 classes demand different tasks and activities. Being a monolingual or a multilingual class also affects teaching aspects.
In any case, a teacher must understand the needs of students very well and and based on that provide useful and varied content to target their needs and problems.
