This comprehensive unit was a useful memory jog for me. Most, if not all, of the grammatical concepts which comprise this unit I had encountered in the past but, as I had not studied them recently, I would not have been able to explain them to a student.
The section was broken up into the parts of speech or, one could say, the parts of a sentence. These parts include nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. For each of these parts of speech, several sub categories were identified - for instance countable vs. uncountable nouns; the role which these parts of speech play in the sentence were also addressed (i.e. subject vs. object).
Although grammar is very complicated and one must dedicate one's self to its intricacies, I feel that the introduction I encountered here would be sufficient to explain the parts of a sentence and the role that each part plays.
