This unit gives information on different methodologies (specifically EFL) when teaching English as a foreign or second language. The different methodologies include: grammar-translation, audio-lingualism, presentation/practice/production (PPP), take-based learning, communicative language teaching, the silent way, suggestopaedia, and the lexical approach. A teacher's unique teaching style is what more-so determines which method is used. This unit also stresses the important of the Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) model. The different types of ESA methods include: the Straight Arrow, Boomerang, and Patchwork lessons. Different types of games for the Engage phase are further explained - as well as ideas for both the study and activate phases. The lesson closes with the suggested types of feedback and correction techniques.
