This unit described the importance of reading and listening skills (receptive skills). Receptive and productive skills are equally important, and it is important to dedicate time to both. I learned the various types of recpetive skills (predictive, scanning, skimming, looking for detailed information, and deduction from content). One of the most helpful tips from this unit was preteaching vocabulary that may appear in a text or audio so that the students have the knowledge necessary to understand it.
