The relationship between teachers and students is complicated.Teachers have different roles in the class and students are at different levels with different characteristics. Even thought I have been and EFL teachers for 7 years I still learnt something new from this unit.
A good teachers is not only kind and patient, loving teaching, and it is not enough for a good teacher to have a very good subject knowledge. These are basic requirements for a teacher, not a good teacher. A good teacher is able to tell what role to play in a specific situation in the class. Such as when to present, when to prompt, when to participate and when to observe. A good teacher is able to adjust the teaching style when facing different aged and leveled students.
Teaching is also a process of learning. Teachers learn from the students and learn about the students in order to be a better teacher.
