In this unit I learned about phonology. After reading this unit, I learned how much goes into the phonology of English. Things like stress, rhythm, and intonation. As a native speaker, these are things that I don’t even think about but this unit has made me more aware of these things as it pertains to helping others learn to speak English. I even learned about the phonetic alphabet which was the first time I have seen or heard of it. Also the section on articulation helped me become reacquainted with how sounds are produced in the mouth. Because of that, I learned how to explain that process a little better to non-native speakers of English.
