I find vocabulary to be the most difficult part of language learning, as missing just one word can make a sentence or phrase unrecognizable. Students often lose confidence or tell me, when asked why they don't practice English more, that they "don't have enough vocabulary" to say what they wish to say. I found this unit insightful in terms of how to best teach vocabulary that students will need to learn. I think that it can sometimes be MORE difficult to teach vocabulary to students whose first language is similar to English, as they may think that every word is simply the same in English minus one letter, for example. This creates a lot of "false friends."
