From the videos I witnessed the importance of establishing rapport with students and creating a relaxed, encouraging environment for learning. The teacher has an important impact on the atmosphere of the classroom. Being positive and friendly can help students relax and participate which makes the teacher's job easier. Being prepared (prepped board work, a clear logic/sequence to the lesson, etc.) can establish confidence and motivate students to learn.
It's also important for the students to understand the aims and target language of the lesson, which was framed better in the second language. It is also important to review past structures and grammar points as the teacher did in the second video with reviews of subject-verb agreement, pronunciation, and articles. The teacher also acknowledged silly answers such as "playing volleyball" in a restaurant and "(to) slide on a bed" with gestures and set them aside to be used later. Another moment of effective teaching was toward the end, after a demonstration of the worksheet material the teacher noticed students were slow to understand the objective, so he went over the assignment again to ensure understanding.
This was very helpful and I'm more attuned to the importance of being approachable, flexible, prepared, and to work with a variety of activities and review previous material constantly.
