This unit explored some qualities that make a good teacher and a good learner. Teachers should be enthusiastic, sensitive, motivated, and patient. They should build rapport with students and ideally be attuned to each students' learning methods, strengths, and weaknesses. A good teacher must wear many hats in the classroom ranging from being a lecturer, organizer of engaging learning activities, model of correct language usage, disciplinarian, tutor, etc.
A good student should be curious, willing to ask questions, introspective when it comes to identifying successful learning techniques, and patient when progress slows as it inevitably does as one gains proficiency. For instance, improvement from the beginner to elementary stage is much more salient than improvement from intermediate to advanced.
I have learned of the various roles I will be expected to perform. I have the temperament for it and I believe I will learn how to become a proficient manager, organizer, tutor, and resource.
