Unit 17 covers equipment and teaching aids. These include; the board, interactive whiteboards, overhead projectors, visual aids, worksheets and work cards, cassette recorders, CD players, video and DVDs, video cameras, dictionaries, course books, resource books, photocopiers, computers, and online sources. When using an interactive whiteboard, you have to consider; testing and having a back-up plan, system selection and location, IWB training regime, lesson planning with an IWB, making your own IWB lesson plans, and using the IWB as a screen. The unit discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the OHP. The main uses for the computer include; word processor, EFL CDs, reference tools, email, videos/video clips, YouTube, and podcasts/MP3s/audio clips. Online sources include; dictionaries, learning sites, literature and poetry, media, other resources, teaching resources, and miscellaneous.
