Unit 11 covers two of the four basic skills in any language, namely reading and listening. These two are collectively classified as receptive skills. The unit acknowledges that readers and listeners employ some specialist skills when reading and/or listening. These specialist skills may pave way for potential challenges when it comes to learning new language content. In order to overcome some if not all of these challenges, it is important to select a topic that students would consider interesting to learn or talk about. Moreover, a teacher's attitude towards teaching a particular topic should encourage him/her to generate interest, motivation and engagement for the students.
