Conditionals are sentences that contain two clauses, one being an "if" or a "when" clause and the other being the main clause. These sentences are used to discuss past, present and future possibilities. There are five main types of conditionals each with their own unique structure and usages. These types are the zero conditional, the first, the second, the third and the mixed conditional. Reported speech is when we take a direct quote and report what was said in this direct quote to someone else. When doing this, we have to backshift the sentence so that it makes sense. This usually involves changing the verb tense used and words relating to events, things and times.
