This unit focuses on teaching English to more specialized groups. Specialized groups include beginners, individual students, children, business people and a monolingual and/or multilingual class. Beginners can be categorized into five groups, namely, the absolute beginner, the false beginner, the adult beginner, the young beginner and the beginner without Roman alphabet. There are several methodology and techniques for teaching beginners. Some of these include visual aids, classroom arrangement and homework. Teaching individual students requires that you maximize on the student's interests and experience. When it comes to teaching children, it is important to note that they (children) possess an innate curiosity, which is in itself a motivating factor. Business English involves an increasing amount of English for a Specific Purpose (ESP); it is necessary to conduct an analysis to figure out what needs your students in this category might have. Lastly, Multilingual and monolingual students are from different countries. An advantage of this is that they have no common language but English; it is important to note the difference in cultural backgrounds when working with this category of students.
