In this unit, I've learned about common problem situations that usually happen in class.Such as the first lesson in class,different language levels of students, how to handle large classes, using of native languge in a monolingual class,handling reluctant students and dificulties in listening texts. When the teacher is having the first lesson on class, he/she doesn't need to get into the course book immediately. The teacher needs to estalish rapport, to know more about the students, what are their needs and aspirations with English and lastly is to find out the English level of each students. The teacher can use different activities for these purposes, such as questionnare, games like passing ball and asking questions after. In handling varying levels of students, the teacher can deal with this problem by using different materials,using the same material but different tasks and to pair up the strong students with the weaker ones. With the problem of the use of native language, the teacher must set up rules and making sure that they should be able to follow. The teacher must make sure that he/she must use appropriate language when giving instructions to be clear with the students and making sure that the teacher only responds to English so that the students will be eager to try what they want to adhere in English In handling large classes, the teacher can use different techniques so to create succesful classes such as; using of worksheets,doing pair:group work, clarity by making sure that the teacher is understood by the whole class, choral repetition,appointing group leaders and using dynamics in teaching. In handling reluctant students, teachers can use different ideas on how to deal with them such as; using plenty of pair work, using of controlled practice, using of role-play, and using of tape recorder to help the teacher in giving advise to these students. In dealing with the students having difficulties with listening texts, the best way to solve it is to have a pre-teach of the difficult vocabulary so that when they have the listening activity, they will identify these words from what they have leaned from the pre-teaching part and making them comprehend the text.
