This unit covered various troubleshooting issues that occur when teaching English, such as the first class and problems with difficult students and students using their native language. The unit recommended establishing rapport during the first lesson, and avoiding the course book in general. It's important to understand the needs of students and what their interests are, which I think is particularly important with adult classes. When dealing with different leveled students in the same class, strategies recommended included pairing stronger students with weaker students, dividing the class into groups based on strength, and providing more difficult and expansive work to a stronger group, yet providing everyone the same material. I think the best strategy is providing space for more advanced students to be creative and expand on the topics of the course while providing all students the same material so as not to discourage weaker students but this of course would depend on the context.
