Most one-to-one lessons I have had in the last 10 or 15 years were designed to develop conversational skills and abilities. Students tend to think that all they have to do at the lesson is get exposure of language speaking practice in a wide range of context. It takes time for them to realise that fluency can only be achieved through learning new vocabulary and getting familiar with more advanced grammar points. And this, in its turn, brings them and the teacher to multi-skill-oriented lesson. One cannot feel confident about unknown content without pronouncing it, listening to its sound or trying to apply it in a written task.
