This unit covered various special groups that teachers will probably encounter, including young and adult beginners, private lessons, and Business English students. The unit discussed various exercises and lesson plans that can be used to teach these various groups, and provided particular advice on strategies to deal with children who may be attention seeking, bored or facing peer pressure (these problems can be controlled by the teacher, unlike personal issues outside the classroom). Some particularly useful information was provided on needs analysis for Business English students; the questions provided could be adapted slightly depending on the class, but it definitely provides a useful guideline. The most helpful part of this unit was in the unit task sheet, where I created a lesson plan for 7 year old beginners on food vocabulary. For my ESA lesson, I elicited food vocabulary first using flashcards, followed that with a quick game to help with memory and pronunciation of words, then had some quick 'study' exercises for students to practice on their own, and concluded with an informal class survey where students asked each other about their favorite and least favorite foods.
