This was an intense unit due to the amount of content covered. For me, the most interesting thing was to have access to a phonetic chart with examples of words. While I have seen phonetic IPA spellings before in dictionaries, there were still some that I was not well acquainted with. This unit gave me the opportunity to practice and learn this. Having previously studied (Russian) grammar and anatomy, at different times, I felt already quite familiar with the different places and manners of articulation. Last but not least, it was fun to consider the different ways we can use intonation to give different meanings to the same expressions, by using either a rising or falling intonation at the end of a sentence. Overall this was an enjoyable unit, and I can see myself coming back to this one from time to time in the future!
