In this lesson I learned that there are many different types of special groups that I may be teaching in the future. Some of these groups I was not actually aware of, although it makes complete sense now that I have read the lesson. For instance, there are many languages which do not use the Roman Alphabet within their mother tongue. This presents further challenges if they are just beginning to learn English without this knowledge. I learned that there may be a case when a one-on-one student teacher relationship may be requested. This is a scenario that I did not previously consider but I do think that this has many advantages. To be able to focus completely on the individual need of the student while understanding exactly what their knowledge of the English language is due to increased interaction with them is invaluable. Progress would also be easier to notice as well. I also learned that there may be a scenario in which I teach classes with students who speak many different languages. What an interesting challenge this would be! To be able to create lesson plans which take each countries' language difficulties into consideration would be challenging, let alone being able o compare English language levels among such a diversity of language backgrounds!
