In this unit, I learned about structuring lessons and effective strategies to keep students involved and interested in the learning material in an engaged way. The central idea of this lesson is employing ESA: Engage, Study, Activate. I like this general approach as it gets students talking and active early in the lesson... then introduces the intricacies of the 'take-home' topic of the day.. and finally concludes with an activity that focuses on general fluency and the specific lesson itself. In this way, lessons are not too boring or too wild.. There is a good mix of teacher-centered learning and student-oriented learning. And it's also good in that lessons can be greatly varied this way, as with boomerang and patchwork lessons. It can be adapted as needed. Too many of the methods listed early in this chapter were too narrow and inflexible, whereas the one supported by this program is adaptable and well-balanced. I also learned many games and activities that can be used to create effective lessons, as well as proper error and mistake correction points.
