Unit 8 presents introduces The Future Tenses. The future is one of the most complex areas of the English language and many tenses and ideas can be used with it. Unit 8 covers the seven most common tenses: the future simple; the future continuous; the future perfect; the future perfect continuous; be going + infinitive; the present simple; and the present continuous. The unit looks at all the above structures in more detail as well as providing ideas.
Unite taught me to appreciate the differences between ‘going to’ future and present continuous. This tense can be confusing, because it looks similar to present continuous, especially because the present continuous uses the verb ‘to go’. The difference is that the ‘be going to’ structure is always followed by a verb. I am going to teach my students this difference.
